It is a widely known fact that a 10-year deal was made between Microsoft and Yahoo that would challenge Google, the better known search market leader. An agreement was finally made in 2009, while last year Yahoo refused the $47.5 billion bid by Microsoft. What does this mean? Microsoft’s new Bing search engine will now power any search queries made on Yahoo. Microsoft AdCenter, as their pay per click service, will serve as the sponsored results section.
According to comScore, Google has 65% share of the US search market, while Yahoo has only 19.6% and Microsoft a mere 8.4%. While this new partnership between Microsoft and Yahoo will certainly not overtake Google, it will create greater competition for Google.
When it comes to Internet marketing, RezStream will watch this partnership closely to make sure we have exposure in Bing and Yahoo.
