Did you know RezStream Professional allows users to make a daily backup of their database and then restore their database from that backup? This month’s HOT TIP will illustrate how to create a backup and how to restore from a backup if your database file is beyond repair.
It is critical to make a backup of your RezStream Professional database on a nightly basis. The database backup creates a copy of your current RezStream Professional property management system and acts as support in case your computer experiences serious hardware failures. When a backup is created, it is made as a zip file that takes only a small amount of disc space.
How to create a backup:
Create a backup file by clicking File > Backup, or close RezStream Professional and answer "Yes" when prompted to make a backup. After selecting to make a backup, the "Backup RezStream Professional Data" window is displayed. Specify both a name for the backup and a location for storing the zip file. Click the "Save" button.

How to restore from a backup:
Typically, you would only want to restore your database from a backup when the normal database is damaged beyond repair or has been deleted. Or, you may wish to use this feature if you have made a backup file to an external source and want to view that file within RezStream.
If you attempt to open RezStream and you get an error message that says "problem with database connection error," or "database missing," you may need to restore from your most recent backup file.
Note: You might still be able to repair the data file! See Repairing the Database in our online Help file for more information on repairing your data file.
