With such a high percentage of consumers receiving gift cards and obviously ready to spend, we’re always surprised when we see that our clients aren’t adding gift certificates to their reservation booking engine.
Offering gift certificates to your property allows you to:
- Compete with chains and big brands. You know the local Marriott or Hyatt has gift cards or certificates, so why are you sending your previous guests to your competitors when they want to give the gift of travel?
- Bring in new guests. According to First Data’s yearly consumer insights study, 40% of respondents “said they were more likely to visit a store they would not have gone to because of gift cards.”
- Earn more revenue. First Data’s study also found that 69% of consumers spent more than the value of the gift card and that the overspend increases year-over-year.
- Provide instantaneous gratification. 64% of consumers would prefer brands to reward them with a $10 gift card whereas only 16% wanted a $10 off coupon. Not only are gift cards easy for you guests to purchase and present, but it’s an instantaneous addition to your revenue, especially around the holidays!
