One of our more popular website solutions for innkeepers and hoteliers that don’t have time to learn basic code or Search Engine Optimization (SEO) skills to manage their website is our TCMS (Turn-key Content Management System).
The TCMS is user-friendly and easy to navigate, meaning you don’t have to waste unnecessary time updating your website’s text or images, or editing a special offer. Now, we’re pretty excited with some upgrades we rolled out to the newest version of the TCMS and want to share them with you.
Layout & system upgrades: Sometimes we want to update the way our website is laid out or how our guests interact with it, but that’s generally costly and requires the assistance of a web designer. With the new TCMS product, you can easily update your theme and change the layout of your entire site! This layout applies to all pages of your site but offers more flexibility than the first TCMS version. There’s also an ExpressionEngine upgrade, which is the platform the websites are built upon, meaning you have the latest and greatest technology working for your hotel. Since the initial launch of the TCMS solution, we’ve been able to identify and fix common bugs that won’t show up in the new version.
Google requirements: Every TCMS website uses Responsive Website Design meaning your website is fully functional and all pages are available to your online visitors no matter what type of device they are using to access your site. The website will look optimal across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices. Along with being responsive, our sites have improved website speed and load quickly which is something Google expects today’s websites to be able to do.
Another cool feature we implemented to help your SEO efforts is the addition of image sitemaps. This basically allows you tell Google what your images are about and helps Google index them correctly for its search engine. Along with image sitemaps, you can also add schema to your site to help improve how your site shows up in the search results and gives your content prominence with Google products such as voice answers, Google Now, and Gmail actions.
We take customer feedback very seriously and listened to what our innkeepers had to say and what they want to include on their hotel’s website. With the upgrades to the TCMS, we added several new features.
Area guide: Add an area guide map to your site to help your guests plan out their vacation! You can add restaurants, points of interest, attractions, and more to a map and then provide turn-by-turn directions from your property.
Weddings page: Do you host weddings at your property? Properly showcase your venue and special offerings on a dedicated weddings page. We’ve built it so that guests can fill out an RFP immediately without having to click through to multiple pages. You can also include a photo gallery to help guests visualize their wedding at your property.
Homepage features: We know most guests will land on your homepage first, but with featured content you can help direct them in the right direction to your rooms, reservations, or specials and packages pages immediately. You may also wish to feature a reviews page or your most recent blog posts and the great thing is that you have the control over what’s featured.
Footer: Want to control what appears in your website’s footer? No problem, you can select the contact information that shows up as well as determine what other content you want availalble, such as specials, weather, social sharing tools, and more.
